Our GPs work across all our sites (Wallisdown, Northbourne and Bournemouth University). Although you are able to book appointments with any of our GPs, it is usually helpful if you try and see one GP about all your health problems as this means your Doctor will get to know you and your problems and helps us to offer better care.

Our GP Registrars are fully qualified doctors who have already worked for several years in Hospitals and are completing their training prior to becoming full-time General Practitioners. They provide care of the same standard provided by the other doctors at Talbot Medical Centre at all times. GP Registrars are usually with us for six months or a year and many of our permanent doctors previously worked as Registrars at the practice.
Nurse Practitioners/Emergency Care Practitioners
Our emergency surgery is run by our excellent Advanced Nurse Practitioner/Emergency Care Practitioner team.
Our practice nurses are an excellent team who are trained not only in general nursing but also in family planning and independently managing many chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, COPD and asthma.
Our wonderful team of Healthcare Assistants carry out most of our Long Term Condition reviews as well as most nursing appointments.
Community Nurses provide nursing care and treatment for people with complex, long-term conditions in their own homes. Our community nursing teams support house-bound residents with a wide range of mental and physical health needs, from wound management and diabetes to kidney failure and heart or lung conditions.
The Health Visitors are responsible as a first point of contact for expectant mothers and children up to five years old, including routine health screening such as development checks at 10-12 months and newborn hearing tests. Please see https://www.dorsethealthcare.nhs.uk/healthvisiting for further information.
Our Practice Management team work behind the scenes to organise and run the practice, lead the administrative and reception team and help ensure that things runs smoothly. They will help you with any suggestions or complaints.
