Community Midwives

The Community Midwife offers women advice on pregnancy and runs antenatal clinics in conjunction with the doctors. She will arrange Parentcraft and all aspect of ante-natal care as well as advice on breast feeding as well as all other aspects of postnatal care at home. Partners are encouraged and welcomed at all times. Consultation by appointment only.

Community Nurses

They District Nurses are based at the West Howe Clinic, Cunningham Crescent, West Howe, Bournemouth. District Nurses provide specialist nursing for patients who are chronically and acutely ill and because of the nature or severity of their illness are housebound. . You can contact the District Nurses on 247777 for routine care, an answer machine will take your message or you can hear the numbers for the out of hours services. If care is urgent, ie a patient has a blocked catheter and is in pain, or requires urgent administration of medication for palliative patients and those undergoing treatment for cancer then please contact thesurgery who will contact the nurses urgently, they will then aim to see you as soon as possible but within two hours.

Health Visitors

The Health Visitors can offer advice on health care to all ages, but in particular to expectant mothers, small children, the elderly and the handicapped. The Health Visitors can be contacted by telephone on weekdays on (01202) 458065. If unavailable, an answering machine is available for messages. The Health Visitors are now based at the Learning Centre in Ensbury Park, Bournemouth.
